Track real causes of salmon declines
By Mike Morry, Times Colonist December 16, 2010
A research project now concludes that farmed salmon are not the cause of the collapse of wild stocks. Anti-fish farm regulars should now put their considerable talent into fighting the real culprits.
Some of us believe that poor logging practices and overfishing by the commercial net fleet are much more likely the cause of the collapse. Of these. the worst is the roe herring fishery. It not only affects salmon but also the well-being of our magnificent orcas.
