Soapbox to rap Salmon Farming

Dear editor;
Normally I don't pay much attention to D.C. Reid's column since it's usually fairly innocuous and doesn't hold a candle to his predecessors' outdoors columuns. However, his article in Tuesday's paper went too far. I appreciate that his is an opinion piece but it would be nice if there were some veracity to his statements of "fact" especially the ones to do with infectious salmon anemia (ISA). There has never been a documented case of this virus being found in BC farmed salmon despite considerable testing. Mr. Reid could have looked that fact up since it is in the public record. Rather he seems content to be a mouth piece for the anti salmon farming crowd spreading fear amongst those who would believe such tripe. I am an avid sport fisherman and share this mania with what I believe to be a sizeable constituency of your readership. Many that I have spoken to would like to have an outdoor writer who caters to their interests. As long as Mr. Reid is using his column as a soapbox to rap salmon farming we do not think your paper reflects the interests of a large number of your readers.
