Americans should eat more seafood
The US Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) has published a report which says that farmed seafood has at least as many omega-3 fatty acids as wild caught fish.

We at Act for Aquaculture watched in dismay recently as once again false perceptions about our industry took center stage in the coverage about the federal government’s proposed Aquaculture Activities Regulation.

This month, the College of Veterinary Biologists relented (probably to stop the annoying Ecojustice press releases) and decided to set the Wayback Machine to 2007 and investigate her complaint.

The Sea Among Us presents a comprehensive study of the Strait of Georgia in all its aspects: geology, First Nations, history, oceanography, fish, birds, mammals, invertebrates and plants; the book is a sweeping overview of the waterway. During the 8 part Thursday night series the contributing authors will share their expertise and contribution to this insightful book. Come early to check out our aquariums and touch tanks and join us for dinner.   Each week’s lecture will offer a different themed menu: Seafood, Mexican, Italian, Greek, Japanese and more.  Tickets include admission to the station.

To read a piece of modern research requires several years of specialized university education. Even with a PhD and years of experience, a biologist and a physicist generally can’t read each other’s work. That means the public hasn’t a hope of reading research on climate change, or on genetically modified foods. They must trust experts to understand, and to tell the truth.
