Roadmap to 2020 – B.C. Agrifood and Seafood Strategic Growth Plan launched

...The B.C. Agrifood and Seafood Strategic Growth Plan focuses on continued sector growth and it builds on the success of the 2012 BC Agrifoods Strategy. The 55,000 British Columbians directly employed in the provincial agrifoods sector form a key economic driver in B.C. and contribute to the second largest manufacturing sector in the province.

Of all the salmon raised in BC, 78% is done in partnership with First Nations. In total there are currently 19 economic and social partnerships with First Nations, and farming companies are working towards many more.

Ocean Wise claims to be operating in the best interest of small-scale Canadian fisheries, but the Canadian-borne seafood sustainability certification program has no decision making power - all of its decisions are made by the American program, Seafood Watch.
