This week, we watched a fascinating story unfold – only to reach its logical conclusion. A story framed by initial media reports as corporate “muzzling” of a soccer family, turned out to be little more than an all-too-common story about a sport family that can’t play well with others or within the sport team’s rules....We now know this wasn’t just a poor single mom and her daughter who “just wanted to play soccer”: it turns out this was a directed and planned attack campaign by a group of anti-salmon farming activists against the corporate sponsor, salmon farming giant Marine Harvest. This was planned from the moment Ms. Reed learned that the British Columbia aquaculture company was the corporate sponsor of her daughter’s soccer program: strategically refusing the soccer club’s offer of a full refund...
