Division A Trophy recaptured by Creative Salmon at 14th Annual Aquaculture Tourney
July, 2010. Positive Aquaculture Awareness hosted its 14th annual BC Aquaculture Slow-Pitch Tournament at Willow Point Park in Campbell River on July 10th and 11th, 2010. Fourteen teams from all over the North Island, Nanaimo and Tofino competed in this exciting tournament. All teams entered into the tournament have ties with the aquaculture industry and teams must have a number of industry staff or family. Round robin play finished on Saturday with single knockouts taking place on Sunday.
The Division A trophy was awarded to Creative Salmon from Tofino. This is the second Division A win for Creative Salmon, who took the trophy home playing in the 11th Annual Aquaculture Tourney in 2007. Thomas George and Trudy Barr were named male and female tournament MVPs respectively. Congratulations Creative Salmon.
The B division trophy was awarded to Grieg Seafoods, a company based in Campbell River. MVP awards were presented to Grieg’s Travis Granbois (male) and Tanya Munro (female). Tanya’s young son and daughter were very excited for Grieg’s win and their Mother’s MVP award.
The 14th annual tournament was hosted by the Positive Aquaculture Awareness Society. The society’s mandate is to promote awareness of the aquaculture industry through public education and community involvement.
