This blog has highlighted many attempts by seafood brokers who choose to demarket or slander “competition” to promote their product. Instead of promoting all seafood for what it is – healthy – they choose to think that fighting amongst ourselves helps consumers make the right choice. Beef, poultry, and pork producers are loving it.

Now enter rookie Craig Kasberg: a young commercial fisherman from Juneau, Alaska. Earlier this year, he tried to “kickstart” a fundraising campaign to purchase machinery for his seafood distribution factory. His campaign was unsuccessful, probably because it was a campaign of fear – that buying anything other than what Craig is selling is bad for you and bad for our planet. Obviously, most people didn’t buy the message Craig was selling. But as Craig states, the lack of funding wouldn’t stop him from spreading the gospel “about the health benefits of eating sustainably caught wild fish instead of farmed fish.”...
