The blame game: depressed salmon prices

There are, and always have been, many variables that affect the price of salmon. One of the most commonly repeated and reported effects on price has been the growth of farm-raised salmon – perhaps a scapegoat for those who like to point fingers or, more likely, a convenient diversion for those who have also increased their “wild” harvest by aquaculture. But the production of pink and chum salmon can no longer be hidden: today salmon ranches flood our ocean with more Pacific salmon than are raised on farms...
...We suspect that those who have played the blame game in the past would now like to take their ball and go home.
