Beware of false prophets

 An argument of biblical proportions

In his latest screed against salmon farming (Shades of Green Nov. 18), Ray Grigg chooses to use the Bible as his weapon but badly misrepresents the message of the scriptures.

In particular, he uses the verse Matthew 7: 16, "by their deeds ye shall know them."

The verse immediately preceding this one, Matthew 7: 15, makes it clear this is a warning to beware of false prophets.

As well Matthew 7: 1-2 warns "Judge not, that ye not be judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again."

Mr. Grigg must have ignored all this context to cherry-pick the verse he wanted to make his point. Perhaps he needs to pay more attention to his source material, spiritual as well as the material he uses to attack salmon farming.
