It’s time the British Columbia aquaculture community set the record straight and displace the myriad of myths with facts.
As someone who works in or has an interest in the aquaculture industry we want to share some important news with you about this. Starting next week we’re launching a series of initiatives to tell our story directly to the public, challenging them to rethink what they’ve been told about farmed salmon.
There are two major components to this campaign: one, a television and print advertising campaign and the second, a new website, www.BCSalmonFacts.ca, which will serve as a central information source to dispel misinformation, demystify questions around sustainable aquaculture, welcome discussion on our forum and be a platform for news and information about our industry.
The TV and print ads are witty and thought-provoking and we think they will garner a strong reaction with mainstream media interest.
BCSalmonFacts.ca is an initiative of three major salmon farming companies and two feed suppliers: Marine Harvest Canada, Mainstream Canada, Grieg Seafood, Ewos and Skretting, all members of the BC Salmon Farmers Association. The BCSFA is the voice of British Columbia’s environmentally sustainable farmed salmon industry.
Farmed salmon is the province’s largest agricultural export and is recognized around the world as a naturally healthy and environmentally responsible product.
