Balancing The Scales - A BC Salmon Farm Tour
The Province, July 10, 2015.
On a quest to find the balance – between the hype and truth, the accusations and realities, the naysayers and the aye-sayers – I went on a tour of a salmon farm…well I tagged along with an entire body of journalists and media folks....Finally a real person I could look in the eye while he answered my questions.
David Minato,Member and Community Relations Co-ordinator, BCSFA, is a descendant of Japanese parents and has lived in Campbell River for a long time. He graduated Simon Fraser University’s Aquaculture program in 1987 and immediately started work in the fishing industry....
...Do you have a favourite salmon recipe you’d like to share with us?
My go-to soul food is teriyaki salmon – A bit of mirrin, soy sauce, ginger and garlic, a dash of white sugar. Pour it over the salmon and bake it. Boom that’s it.
Thanks for the tour and the information.
I am glad I went on this tour, we should all get more active when it comes to getting to know our food industries…for anyone wanting to know more go on the tour.
