And the 18th Annual BC Aquaculture Slo-Pitch trophies go to...
Campbell River, July 6, 2014. Positive Aquaculture Awareness hosted its 18th Annual BC Aquaculture Slow-Pitch Tournament at Willow Point Park in Campbell River on July 5th and 6th, 2014. Fourteen teams from Port Hardy and Campbell River competed in this year’s exciting tournament. Round robin play finished on Saturday with single knockouts taking place on Sunday.
The Division A trophy after spending the past year in Campbell River is returning to Port Hardy with the Marine Harvest Canada sponsored team, the Stray Katz. Jake Colburn and Steph Dawson were named the Division A MVPs at the award presentations. The Stray Katz played off with the Cermaq Canada sponsored team, the Maniacs.
The B division trophy is staying in Campbell River with the Marine Harvest Canada sponsored team, the Upchucks. The Upchucks played off the returning Marine Harvest Team sponsored Port Hardy team, Something Fishy. MVP awards were presented to Upchuck players Michael Allison and Melissa Thulin.
Delicious BBQ farmed salmon; donated by Cermaq Canada was served to tournament participants and spectators on Saturday with the proceeds going Campbell River Search and Rescue. We are pleased to have the opportunity to help the fundraising efforts of CRSAR and the important volunteer service they provide the entire North Island
“The slo-pitch tournament is another great event that brings our aquaculture sector including both salmon farming companies and suppliers to one venue for a fun filled week end” said Cory Percevault, President of Positive Aquaculture Awareness.
Positive Aquaculture Awareness Society mandate is to promote awareness of the aquaculture industry through public education and community involvement.
